It would be a BIG help if you said what size your Boot drive is and whether it is a HDD or and SSD and, if it is an SSD, is it an M.2 SSD? That way Steam FSX files are installed as fsx.cfg instead of fsx_se.CFG HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator If you have had the boxed version of FSX Gold Edition Acceleration, or another version, installed on your current computer look for an entry in the registry relating to it and delete it so that you get a *standard* FSX SE installation. This is a general guide to installing Steam correctly in this particular case:Ħ. If you have had MS FSX Acceleration installed on your boot drive and have uninstalled it before installing Steam FSX there is a registry key which should have been removed before installing Steam FSX. I'll try and do as you suggest and hopefully get in installed. This is more reliable than the library based method because the library folder might be located on somewhere other than steam's folder. It will be under C:\Program Files, which is where all 64bit programs go by default. ![]() One last thing to be thorough: A 64bit game installed to default drive C: won't be under C:\Program Files (x86). "FSX" is the root folder for Flight Simulator X. Is that as clear as mud? If not, like I said just search your Drive for the term "FSX" and let Windows File explorer find it for you. If you DONT create a folder like I did and just tell steam to install a game at the root of another drive (like D:\, or E:\) you will get:Īll DLC for a given game are installed in a subfolder structure under each games root: So when I want Steam to install a game on either of those other drives I tell Steam to install it under "Drive:\SteamLibrary\" and the results I get are: BUT.įor games I tell steam to install on other drives D: and E:, "I" created a root folder named "SteamLibrary" on each of those drives. I have steam games on 3 different drives and so on Drive C: the ones I allowed it to installed there by default are as I described above, in the first paragraph. So you would get:ĭ:\MYGAMES\steamapps\common\game3 (note game1,2,3 are not literal, they are whatever the game manufacturer made it.) IF you tell steam to install any game somewhere else say drive D:\MYGAMES, steam will create another library under that, which just means: D:\MYGAMES\steamapps\common\. So you get:Ĭ:\program files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\FSXĬ:\program files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Game2 You were mis-informed, but here is the scoop: By default IF you let Steam install by default on drive C: it uses the following structure: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\, and after that its the games name, and that is that games (or programs) root folder, in this case that is FSX. ![]()
